Tata Aeris Variants Explained: Which One Should You Buy?

A look at all the main trim levels of the new Tata Aeris and their ex-showroom prices.

With Tata Motors retiring the Tigor nameplate, the brand has now officially introduced the Aeris in its place, at an introductory ex-showroom starting price of ₹5.29 lakh (ex-showroom). And while fleet operators will continue to be sold the commercial Xpres badge, the Aeris is for private ownership.

Key Takeaways

  • Introductory pricing starts from ₹5.29 lakh for the base Smart petrol manual.
  • It offers many convenience features like front ventilated seats and a 360-degree camera.
  • Both 1.2-litre Revotron petrol (84.8 bhp) and 1.2-litre iCNG (74.5 bhp) engines are available.

The Aeris has five primary trim levels: Smart, Pure, Pure+, Creative and Accomplished. Below, we have covered in detail the specifications, equipment, pricing, and which variant could actually be the right one for you.

Engines and Powertrain Offerings

The Tata Aeris retains Tata’s proven 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Revotron engine family, which comes in both naturally aspirated petrol and factory-fitted iCNG configurations.

  • 1.2L Revotron Petrol: Displacing 1,199 cc, this engine produces 84.8 bhp (63 kW) of peak power at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of maximum torque at 3,300 rpm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). The certified fuel efficiency is 19.6 kmpl.
  • 1.2L Revotron iCNG: In CNG mode, this engine delivers 74.5 bhp of power at 6,000 rpm and 96.5 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm. It has Tata’s patented dual-cylinder technology, splitting the gas capacity into two smaller tanks placed under the boot floor to preserve 205 litres of usable luggage space at the back. It can be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

The Aeris is built on an updated version of the X-platform. It’s about 3,995 mm in length, 1,677 mm in width and 1,532 mm in height, with a 2,450 mm wheelbase and an unladen ground clearance of 170 mm.

Which Tata Aeris Variant Should You Buy?

Even though safety has not been compromised in any of the variants, the Tata Aeris’ higher-end trims do offer some extra conveniences for both daily commutes and highway journeys.

For the Strict Budget Buyer: Tata Aeris Smart

If your budget is rigid and you only want a vehicle with high structural integrity, the base Smart trim has a lot of practical value. By making six airbags, ESP, Hill-Hold Control, and all-passenger 3-point seatbelts standard at ₹5.29 lakh, it offers complete safety without you having to pay for non-essential cosmetics.

For the Value-Conscious Family Commuter: Tata Aeris Pure

The Pure trim may feel like the most sensible entry-level package for everyday family duties. It has factory remote locking, all-four power windows, electrically adjustable ORVMs and an integrated audio system with steering-mounted controls. You do not have to browse the aftermarket for the essential accessories.

For the Ideal Balance of Tech and Price: Tata Aeris Creative

The Creative trim bundles the large 10.25-inch infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, automatic climate control, cruise control, push-button start and LED projector lighting. This one provides most of the modern flagship features while sitting well below the ₹8.0 Lakh price barrier.

For Two-Pedal Urban Convenience: Tata Aeris Pure+ AMT

Buyers who want an automatic transmission with a touchscreen infotainment system and rear AC vents at the most cost-effective point should definitely consider the Pure+ AMT (even though automatic transmission is available on the Pure as well). It offers two-pedal driving alongside height-adjustable seating without forcing you to upgrade to the higher cosmetic trims.

For Maximum Equipment and Advanced Safety: Tata Aeris Accomplished

If you require premium comforts that are usually reserved for higher-segment vehicles, the Accomplished trim is the ideal choice. The combination of ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera with Blind View Monitor, an integrated DashCam Recorder, wireless charging and leatherette upholstery makes this vehicle one of the most feature-complete sub-4-metre sedans in its class.
