Hyundai’s new SUV gets twin 12.3-inch displays, AI-powered connected technology and a 1.5-litre petrol engine, with a CNG version also expected for India.
Hyundai has showcased the all-new Bayon at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, bringing its latest compact SUV design and technology into focus. The India-spec model is scheduled to launch on October 26, 2026, and will sit between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai’s SUV lineup. Alongside the 1.5-litre petrol engine, a CNG version will also be available in India. Here is a closer look at its exterior, interior and powertrain.
Exterior: Bold SUV Styling
The Hyundai Bayon follows the brand’s contemporary design approach, with a distinctive front fascia, sharp body lines and pronounced wheel arches. Its front features distinctive lighting elements and a sculpted bonnet, while the black body cladding adds to its SUV character. The rear continues the angular styling theme with a distinctive LED lighting signature.
The Bayon’s proportions are intended to balance urban manoeuvrability with the road presence expected from an SUV. Its positioning between the Venue and Creta should give buyers another option in Hyundai’s expanding SUV portfolio.
Interior: Dual Screens And AI Technology
The cabin is one of the Bayon’s key highlights. It features two curved 12.3-inch displays, serving as the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. The dashboard follows a technology-focused layout designed to bring driving information, navigation and entertainment together.
The India-spec model will introduce Hyundai Motor India’s first generative AI voice assistant, featuring technology from Perplexity and SoundHound AI. The system is designed to handle conversational requests and provide information such as weather updates, travel suggestions and recommendations.
Other technology highlights include Hyundai Bluelink with more than 70 connected features, over-the-air software updates for supported vehicle controllers and a multilingual interface. The SUV will also support more than 500 embedded voice commands in English, Hindi, Hinglish, Tamil, Bengali and Telugu for selected functions.
Engine And Gearbox
The India-spec Hyundai Bayon will be powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 115PS and 144Nm. Buyers will be able to choose between a six-speed manual gearbox and Hyundai’s Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) automatic.
A CNG version is also expected to join the Indian lineup, offering an alternative for buyers prioritising running costs. Details about its specifications, availability and transmission options have not been confirmed in the supplied press release.
Positioning: Between Venue And Creta
The Hyundai Bayon will sit between the Venue and Creta in the brand’s Indian SUV lineup. It is expected to appeal to buyers looking for an SUV that offers a different balance of size, design and technology from the Venue, without moving up to the Creta.
Hyundai has confirmed that the India-spec Bayon will launch on October 26, 2026, with bookings already open through its dealerships and official website. Pricing and variant details are expected to be announced at launch.
