From the Himalayan 750 and XPulse 421 to the Tuareg 457, India’s adventure bike segment is set for a major expansion..
India’s adventure bike market is about to witness tremendous growth over the coming 12 to 18 months, with many manufacturers gearing up with new offerings ranging from affordable single-cylinder options to premium twin-cylinder motorcycles, and even an electric adventure machine. These manufacturers include Royal Enfield, Hero MotoCorp, Norton, Bajaj, KTM, BMW Motorrad and Aprilia, all of whom are ready to bolster their respective adventure bike line-ups in one of India’s fastest-growing motorcycle categories.
Royal Enfield Will Unveil Three New Adventure Bikes
First up is the Himalayan 440, which will act as a more affordable version of the Himalayan 450. Riding on the same platform as the Scram 440, the Himalayan 440 will feature a 443cc air/oil-cooled engine producing around 25 bhp and 34 Nm. It will retain the rugged styling, long-travel suspension and 21-inch front wheel found on the Himalayan range.
Next in line is the Himalayan 750, which is expected to become the company’s flagship adventure tourer. Built on an all-new platform, the motorcycle will come equipped with a 750cc parallel-twin engine producing around 50-55 bhp, along with premium features such as a TFT display, riding modes, cruise control and traction control.
The Royal Enfield Him-E will mark the company’s entry into the electric adventure motorcycle segment. The motorcycle has already been spotted testing, and it is expected to offer a 14 kWh battery pack with a claimed range of around 250 km, along with styling inspired by the Himalayan range.
Hero MotoCorp Preps Larger and More Capable XPulse 421
Hero MotoCorp is readying a more rugged version of the XPulse 421. The motorcycle has already been spotted testing and is expected to get a new liquid-cooled engine producing around 40 bhp.
Norton Atlas & Atlas GT Coming to India
The TVS-owned Norton Motorcycles brand is planning to launch two new middleweight ADVs in India in 2026—the Atlas and the road-focused Atlas GT. Both motorcycles will be powered by a 585cc parallel-twin engine capable of delivering 70 bhp and 57.5 Nm.
While the Atlas will target off-road riders, the Atlas GT will cater to touring enthusiasts with alloy wheels, a lower seat height and a road-focused riding posture. Production of the new Norton models has commenced at TVS Motor’s Hosur plant.
Bajaj to Launch Its New Adventure Bike
Another manufacturer developing an adventure bike in India is Bajaj Auto. Test mules have already been spotted, and the motorcycle features a tall stance, adventure-bike styling and a new 350cc liquid-cooled engine. The launch is anticipated by the end of 2026 or early 2027.
KTM to Introduce Twin-Cylinder 490 Adventure
KTM is all set to introduce the long-awaited 490 Adventure, which will be positioned above the 390 Adventure range. The motorcycle is expected to feature an all-new twin-cylinder engine producing around 50-60 bhp. It will be a touring-focused model equipped with spoke wheels, a large fuel tank, long-travel suspension, traction control and multiple riding modes. The expected India launch is in 2027.
BMW F 450 GS Sport to Debut in India
After launching the standard F 450 GS in India earlier this year, BMW Motorrad is expected to introduce the F 450 GS Sport. It is likely to feature touring accessories, sport suspension, engine guards, hand guards, selectable riding modes and the same 450cc twin-cylinder engine.
Aprilia Tuareg 457 India Launch
Apart from the BMW F 450 GS, another European manufacturer is also preparing to launch an entry-level adventure motorcycle in India. According to sources, Aprilia is working on bringing the Tuareg 457 to the Indian market. Based on the RS 457 platform, the motorcycle is expected to use the same 457cc parallel-twin engine producing around 47 bhp.
Indian buyers are set to benefit from a wider range of choices as several manufacturers prepare adventure motorcycles across different price points. The coming months are expected to bring a wave of new launches that could further shape the adventure motorcycle segment in India.
