BMW X1 LWB Launched At Rs 49.90 Lakh; i5 LWB Bookings Open In India

BMW has expanded its long-wheelbase line-up in India with the more spacious X1 LWB, while bookings have opened for the locally assembled i5 LWB electric sedan with a claimed 669km range.

BMW has expanded its India portfolio with two new long-wheelbase models aimed at buyers looking for more rear-seat space and premium features. The X1 LWB is designed to offer greater practicality and value, while the i5 LWB brings BMW’s electric luxury sedan experience with local assembly in India and a claimed range of 669km.

BMW X1 LWB: More Room, More Value

BMW has launched the long-wheelbase X1 at Rs 49.90 lakh (ex-showroom), making it Rs 1 lakh cheaper than the standard-wheelbase petrol X1. It gets a wheelbase that is 108mm longer, translating into additional rear-seat legroom. The rear bench also gets more padding, a longer seat base and an adjustable backrest.

The X1 LWB is exclusively available with a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 156hp and 230Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

The SUV also gets M Sport styling, 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera, powered front seats and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.

BMW i5 LWB: 669km-Range Electric Luxury

BMW has begun accepting bookings for the i5 LWB ahead of its India launch in the coming weeks. BMW’s Chennai facility will locally assemble the i5 LWB eDrive 35L for the time being.

The electric sedan gets an 81.6kWh battery pack and a claimed range of 669km on the MIDC cycle. Its electric motor produces 268hp, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-100kph in 6.7 seconds. Adaptive rear-axle air suspension is standard, and BMW has also increased the ground clearance for Indian road conditions.

Other features include 20-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic glass roof, a Bowers & Wilkins sound system, multi-zone climate control, a 360-degree camera and a 14.9-inch infotainment screen.

Two Different Perspectives On Luxury

BMW is moving forward with its long-wheelbase strategy in India with the X1 LWB and i5 LWB. The X1 focuses on practicality, value and additional rear-seat space, while the i5 LWB combines extra space with electric performance and luxury. Both models have also been tailored to suit Indian customers and road conditions.
