Sales of Tata Motors jump 56% To 67,753 Units In August

The company’s domestic operations were up 59% year on year, and EV sales more than doubled for the month.

Tata Motors has recorded strong passenger vehicle sales growth for August 2026, with the company’s domestic and electric vehicle businesses both posting solid year-on-year growth.

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd sold 67,753 units in domestic and overseas markets in August compared with 43,315 units in the same month a year ago. Domestic sales were 65,253 units as against 41,001 units in August 2025. International business contributed another 2,500 units.

Electric vehicles were one of the biggest highlights of the month. Combined domestic and international EV sales stood at 16,549 units, up 94% from 8,540 units a year ago. The figure includes sales from Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, the company’s EV subsidiary.

Tata’s electric line-up includes models such as the Nexon.ev, Punch.ev and Curvv.ev, along with the Tiago.ev, Tigor.ev, Harrier.ev and Sierra.ev. The company also has popular petrol and diesel models such as the Nexon, Punch, Curvv, Harrier and Safari in its passenger vehicle portfolio.

Domestic sales grew 59% year-on-year in August, while international sales increased by 8%. Passenger vehicle sales had risen 56% as of August 2025.

Strong EV performance underscores increasing contribution of electric models to Tata’s passenger vehicle business. The company continues to cater to buyers looking for both conventional and electric vehicles from the various segments and powertrains on offer.
