MG’s new flagship SUV gets a 215 hp twin-turbo diesel engine, Level 2 ADAS and premium features while undercutting key Fortuner variants.

The all-new MG Majestor has been officially launched in India at a starting price of Rs 40.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned as the new ICE flagship SUV for MG Motor India, the Majestor will compete directly with the popular Toyota Fortuner. The company says the Majestor now replaces the MG Gloster as the brand’s flagship SUV offering.
The MG Majestor is available in Sharp and Savvy variants, combining bold styling, a premium cabin and a twin-turbo diesel powertrain. While MG Motor India is yet to announce prices for the Sharp variants, the Savvy range is priced between Rs 40.99 lakh and Rs 44.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
Pricing Compared To Rivals
In the segment, the Fortuner’s base 4×2 diesel automatic variant is priced lower than the Majestor. However, MG has positioned the fully loaded Majestor 4×4 aggressively, pricing it below premium Fortuner variants such as the Legender and GR-S, which retail at Rs 48.29 lakh and Rs 50.46 lakh respectively. Even so, the standard Fortuner 4×4 diesel automatic remains slightly more affordable by around Rs 1.87 lakh.
Apart from the Fortuner, the Majestor will also compete against the Jeep Meridian, Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen Tayron.
More Aggressive Than The Gloster

Although both SUVs share the same ladder-frame platform, the Majestor adopts a significantly more aggressive design language than the Gloster.
At the front, the SUV features prominent ‘MORRIS GARAGES’ lettering, a redesigned grille with vertical LED accents, split LED headlamps and a rugged bumper with a prominent skid plate.
The side profile remains similar to the Gloster, but the Majestor gets newly designed 19-inch alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain tyres, along with revised body cladding and mouldings.
At the rear, the SUV receives connected LED tail-lamps, prominent ‘MAJESTOR’ badging and dual exhaust outlets, giving it a more premium appearance.
Feature-Packed Cabin

Inside, the MG Majestor features an all-black cabin theme along with a redesigned dashboard and centre console. Buyers can choose between six-seat and seven-seat configurations, with the six-seater offering captain seats in the second row.
Key features include dual 12.3-inch displays, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, a 360-degree camera, a JBL audio system, connected car technology and 64-colour ambient lighting.
The SUV is also equipped with Level 2 ADAS, multiple off-road drive modes and a diesel particulate filter (DPF) warning system.
Practicality remains a strong point. The boot offers 343 litres of luggage space with all seats in use, expanding to 1,350 litres when the third-row seats are folded.
Twin-Turbo Diesel Engine

Powering the MG Majestor is the same 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine used in the Gloster. The engine produces 215 hp and 479 Nm of torque and is paired with an 8-speed torque-converter automatic transmission.
The powertrain has been tuned to deliver effortless highway cruising and long-distance touring capability.
Notably, the Majestor remains the only SUV in its segment to offer a twin-turbo diesel engine, giving it a unique advantage over rivals such as the Fortuner, which uses a single-turbo diesel setup.
Conclusion
With its aggressive pricing, premium feature list and powerful twin-turbo diesel engine, the MG Majestor presents a compelling alternative to the Toyota Fortuner. As MG’s new flagship ICE SUV, it is expected to attract buyers seeking a more feature-rich and technology-focused three-row SUV experience.
