2026 Hyundai i20 Revealed With SUV-Like Design And Bigger Screens

Fourth-generation Hyundai i20 gets rugged styling, connected LED lights and a redesigned cabin.

Hyundai’s all-new fourth-gen i20 has been launched in Brazil. The revamped hatchback gets plastic cladding all around the exterior, which makes it look more like a Maruti Suzuki Fronx rival than a traditional hatchback competing against cars like the Baleno. These are among the first pictures of the fourth-generation variant, but we expect the Indian version to be tweaked for the Indian audience.

New Exterior

Compared to the previous version, the hatchback appears to be more upright and muscular, characterized by its taller profile, black plastic body cladding, and elevated ride height.

Hyundai i20 arrives in Brazil with a price to compete with the Volkswagen Tera: 1.0 turbo engine with 115 hp, automatic transmission, 346-liter trunk, and two 12.3-inch screens targeting compact cars and

As for the face of the vehicle, Hyundai has added stylish connected LED headlights fitted into the wide black grille, which adds to its sleek look. The connected light strip has also been incorporated into the full-width LED taillights at the rear.

The images show an entirely new interior design concept, featuring a newly designed dashboard housing a huge panoramic screen, which integrates both the digital instrument cluster and the infotainment display into one seamless interface. The Hyundai i20 boasts a massive 12.3-inch digital driver display with wireless smartphone integration, Bluetooth connectivity, and rear-view camera capabilities.

The overall appearance of the interior design is cleaner and more refined, with traditional physical buttons for important controls kept untouched. Hyundai has also made an effort to redesign the steering wheel, centre console, and door trim in order to give the vehicle a more upscale look.

Enhanced Space and Flexibility

The new boxy profile of the i20 is advantageous in terms of space and flexibility. Hyundai claims a 346-litre boot space along with greater flexibility thanks to the new split-folding rear seats. For reference, this is 35 litres more cargo space than the one found in the current-generation Hyundai i20.

Powertrains

The Brazilian version of the Hyundai i20 comes with naturally aspirated (manual) and turbocharged (automatic) versions of the 3-cylinder 1.0-litre engine. These engines are capable of running on E30 fuel and make 95 PS and 115 PS respectively. Although the India launch is still some time away, Hyundai India’s next-generation i20 will continue to feature updated versions of petrol, turbo-petrol, and diesel engines for the Indian market.

Timeline for Launch

Hyundai has already unveiled the new-generation i20 in Brazil. The hatchback is scheduled to launch in India in 2027, although there are no confirmed plans from Hyundai at this point.

With its bold design language, state-of-the-art lighting, increased screen sizes, and practical features, the 2027 Hyundai i20 looks set to bring a significant improvement to the segment.
