Updated styling, feature additions, and a possible new 8-speed automatic aim to keep the Taigun competitive in India’s SUV segment.
Ahead of the Taigun facelift launch in just a few days, Volkswagen India has released images of the facelifted model. Being one of the best-selling midsize SUVs in India, it is now set to receive a mid-life makeover, with several updates inside and out, as well as under the hood. It is expected to remain a strong offering from Volkswagen and help it keep pace with rival SUVs in terms of features and styling.
Design & Styling
Notable upgrades include redesigned LED headlamps connected via a light bar, with the Volkswagen logo positioned at the center. Furthermore, the facelift features a revamped front bumper and a revised rear tail-light cluster, featuring a full-width LED strip along with black ‘TAIGUN’ badging.
Features & Amenities
Although there is no official confirmation regarding the features, it is expected that a considerable number of advanced features will be incorporated into the facelifted Taigun. Some of these features include a panoramic sunroof and massage-equipped seats for top-end versions.
In addition to changes in the infotainment system (including AI features like voice activation), the dashboard will also undergo a minor refresh, with newer materials for a more premium feel. Finally, Volkswagen plans to improve the air-conditioning system, making it more efficient.
Engine & Performance
The facelifted version is expected to retain the 1.0-litre TSI engine with a power output of 115 hp but may get a new 8-speed automatic transmission instead of the current unit. On the other hand, the facelifted model will continue to use the 1.5-litre engine, which generates 150 hp.
Price Expectations and Release Date
According to reports, the launch date for the Volkswagen Taigun facelift in India is set for April 9, 2026. With all the additional features and upgrades, there will likely be an increase in the cost of the car. At present, The Volkswagen Taigun facelift is likely to be priced starting at Rs 10.69 to Rs 19.20 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Volkswagen Taigun competes with models like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Grand Vitara in the premium SUV segment.
