TVS Motor Company has filed a design patent in India for the Tangent RR concept, strongly pointing toward the launch of a new mid-weight supersport motorcycle — potentially to be branded the Apache RR 450.
Design & Technical Direction
The patented Tangent RR retains the aggressively styled aesthetics first shown in the 2025 EICMA concept, including dual headlamps, a steeply raked windscreen, clip-on handlebars, and a fairing to complete the sporty look. The monocoque subframe, aimed at improving rigidity and handling precision, is another standout patent detail, but expect a watered-down version for better day-to-day usability. Underpinnings are expected to include USD front forks, a rear monoshock, a single-disc front brake, and 17-inch wheels at both ends.
Engine & Electronics
The production bike will be powered by a 450cc parallel-twin engine co-developed with BMW Motorrad, the same unit that will debut on the BMW F 450 GS. The motorcycle is anticipated to deliver approximately 48 hp and 43 Nm of torque through a 6-speed transmission. It is also expected to feature a comprehensive suite of advanced rider aids, including a full TFT display, cornering ABS, lean-sensitive traction control, multiple rider modes, and a bi-directional quickshifter.
Segment Competition & Market Context
The market for affordable twin-cylinder motorcycles has recently boomed. Upon its launch, the Apache RR 450 will compete with established performance models such as the Aprilia RS 457, the Kawasaki Ninja 400, and the KTM RC 390, among others.
Launch Timeline & Pricing Expectations
TVS is expected to launch the Indian made Apache RR 450 around Diwali this year. Priced competitively at an estimated ₹4.0 – ₹4.5 lakh.
