Tata’s upcoming electric SUV will feature a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, larger battery packs and a premium cabin.

Tata Motors have released another teaser for the next-generation Sierra EV, which shows that the electric SUV will be powered by an AWD (all-wheel-drive) system. Known as QWD (Quad Wheel Drive), the system is believed to work in the same manner as the dual-motor powertrain that comes in the Harrier EV, hence giving the Sierra EV an edge over its competitors as it will become one of the few AWD electric SUVs in India.
This latest teaser for the Sierra EV has been released ahead of its reveal date, scheduled for 30th June.
Dual-Motor AWD Officially Announced

As can be seen from the teaser, the car features the QWD badge, implying the use of electric motors at the front and rear axles. The same applies to the Harrier EV, which improves traction, off-roading abilities, and overall performance.
Earlier, Tata Motors had revealed the AWD version of the Sierra EV, where the manufacturer confirmed that both the electric and future internal combustion engine versions would get four-wheel drive in the future. While exact figures have not been disclosed, the AWD setup is anticipated to work in tandem with the larger battery pack.
Battery And Platform

The Tata Sierra EV is expected to ride on Tata’s advanced acti.ev+ platform, similar to its Harrier EV cousin. According to industrial sources, the car might come with two battery pack options of 65kWh and 75kWh.
As Tata hasn’t revealed any information regarding the motors and charging speeds, the larger 75kWh battery pack will provide sufficient driving range and fast-charging capabilities. RWD versions of the new model may also come as an option.
Familiar Look With Added EV Flair

As compared to the ICE-powered version, the Sierra EV will come with a completely sealed front grille to increase the aerodynamics of the vehicle. The latest teaser image also showcases diamond-cut alloy wheels of the same design as the ICE version, with top variants sporting 19-inch wheels.
Feature-Rich Cabin

The cabin of the Sierra EV is likely to be a premium one equipped with advanced technologies. High-trim variants are expected to come equipped with a triple-screen setup that includes a digital instrument cluster along with a central infotainment touchscreen and a passenger screen. Some of the expected features include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, a premium sound system, a head-up display, and various driving modes.
Expected Price And Competitors
Coming between the Curvv EV and the Tata Harrier EV, the Sierra EV is expected to be priced between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). On launch, it will go up against an increasing number of electric SUVs that include the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, and Toyota’s future Urban Cruiser EV-based vehicle.
With all-wheel-drive technology, modern design, and a host of features, the Tata Sierra EV is one of the most awaited electric SUV launches scheduled for 30th July 2026.
