Updated MPV gets bold new grille, fresh alloys and sportier styling cues, hinting at a possible XL6 facelift for India.

Suzuki’s XL7 has been spotted testing in Vietnam with a fresh new look. The facelift brings a redesigned grille and bumper, giving the MPV a more rugged and sporty appearance. With spy shots now surfacing online, speculation is growing that similar updates could make their way to the Maruti Suzuki XL6 in India.

The updated model was seen wearing camouflage, hinting at significant cosmetic revisions. Since the XL7 sold in Southeast Asia and the XL6 sold in India are essentially the same vehicle, there is a strong possibility that these updates could eventually reach the Indian market.

Fresh Design For The Front Fascia

The front end receives the most noticeable updates. It gets an entirely new grille design that gives the MPV a more SUV-like appearance. Unlike the current XL6, which features separate upper and lower grilles, the facelifted version uses one large grille that dominates the front fascia. It is finished in black and features a central section for the license plate mounting.

New Alloys And Sportier Rear Styling

A new silver skid plate has also been added to enhance the rugged appeal. Suzuki has included a chrome strip at the top that visually connects the grille sections, creating the illusion of connected headlamps. The fog lamp housing has been redesigned as well, appearing slimmer and sleeker. While the main LED headlamps appear largely unchanged, the fog lamps could feature projector units.

Changes to the side profile are limited to a new alloy wheel design with a dual-tone finish on select variants. Despite the updates, the overall silhouette remains similar to the current Maruti Suzuki XL6, with no major changes to its dimensions or body structure.

At the rear, updates are relatively minor. The taillamps retain their existing shape but now feature a smoked finish for a sportier appearance. Suzuki has also removed the chrome strip from the tailgate, although the rear bumper design appears unchanged.

Cabin Updates Likely

Reports suggest Suzuki could introduce updates to the cabin as well, although the interior has not yet been revealed completely. The XL7 sold in Southeast Asian markets remains closely related to the Maruti Suzuki XL6 in India, except for its middle-row bench seat configuration. Expected updates could include a new infotainment system, revised upholstery, and additional features to freshen up the cabin experience.

Same Powertrain Expected

The facelifted XL7 is expected to continue with Suzuki’s familiar 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with mild-hybrid technology. No major mechanical changes are expected, indicating that Suzuki’s focus is primarily on cosmetic revisions and feature additions.

Could India Get The Update?

Suzuki has not officially confirmed whether these updates will make their way to India. However, given the close similarities between the XL7 and the Maruti Suzuki XL6, this facelift could preview future updates for the XL6. If introduced in India, the refreshed styling and added features could help Maruti’s premium MPV remain competitive in the highly contested three-row family MPV segment.
