Renault introduces a more affordable turbo-petrol Kiger and adds a manual gearbox option to the Techno Turbo variant.

Renault India has added another variant to its popular Kiger model range in the form of the new Evolution+ Turbo variant. The new variant costs only Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom). This new variant is priced nearly Rs 1.46 lakh less than the lowest-priced manual turbo-petrol variant.
Moreover, Renault India has made a change to the line-up of the Techno Turbo variant by adding a manual gearbox option to it.
Turbo-Petrol at Lower Costs

Previously, customers who wanted the Renault Kiger 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor would have to settle for the Emotion Turbo, which costs Rs 9.35 lakh for the manual variant. With the launch of the Evolution+ Turbo, customers can own a turbo-petrol Kiger at a lower price point.
Renault’s 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine makes 100 PS and 160 Nm of torque. This motor is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, while an optional CVT automatic is available on higher variants.
The Techno Turbo variant gets a 5-speed manual option, costing only Rs 8.45 lakh, which makes it Rs 90,000 cheaper compared to the CVT variant.
Convenience-Focused Evolution+ Trim Level
Based on the Evolution trim, the Evolution+ adds more convenience features. Features include keyless entry, push-button start-stop system, automatic air conditioning, smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth, and a height-adjustable driver seat.
Other standard features from the Evolution variant include LED daytime running lamps, LED tail-lights, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, steering-mounted controls, rear air conditioning vents, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and a rear-view camera.
Going for the higher-end Techno variant gives buyers some extra equipment in the form of LED headlamps and 16-inch flex wheels. The top-of-the-line Emotion trim comes with ventilated front seats, 360-degree cameras, drive modes, and diamond-cut alloy wheels.
Engine Specifications
In addition to the turbo-petrol engine, the Renault Kiger still retains the naturally aspirated 1.0-litre petrol engine producing 72 hp and 96 Nm of torque. The engine can be had with either a 5-speed manual transmission or an AMT. There is also a CNG conversion kit for the naturally aspirated manual model that can be installed by the dealer.
Competitors
The Renault Kiger competes in one of the most competitive vehicle segments in India. Rivals include the Nissan Magnite, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Kia Syros, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and Skoda Kushaq. The launch of the Evolution+ Turbo model means that Renault has improved the competitiveness of the Kiger by offering customers a turbocharged engine at a lower entry-level price.
