Renault Bridger Concept Revealed — New Sub-4m SUV to Rival Tata Nexon and Kia Sonet by 2027

March 11, 2026 Admin

Renault has unveiled the Renault Bridger Concept, which previews a new compact SUV set to be launched in India. The new Renault compact SUV will be positioned between Renault’s Kiger and the upcoming Duster in the company’s product portfolio. According to Renault CEO Fabrice Cambolive, the compact SUV will debut in India before being rolled out in other global markets.

Exterior

The Renault Bridger concept features a boxy design typical of a rugged off-roader. Up front, the Bridger gets aggressive LED lighting strips along with Renault logo illumination integrated into the large blacked-out grille area. The dual-tone bonnet is sculpted to complement the butch styling, while the prominent silver skid plate completes the SUV’s rugged look.

On the sides, the Bridger features squared-off wheel arches, body cladding, and 18-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the Bridger includes a rear gate-mounted spare wheel and sharply styled LED lamps.

Interior

Renault has not yet revealed the interior design of the Bridger concept. However, the company has stated that the vehicle will offer one of the most spacious cabins in the compact SUV segment despite its sub-4-metre length.

The rear seat is expected to offer approximately 200mm of knee room, while the SUV will feature a 400-litre boot space, making it one of the larger luggage areas in the segment. However, it still falls short of the Kia Syros’s class-leading 460-litre boot capacity.

Engine

The production version of the Renault Bridger will be based on the R-GMP platform, which will also underpin the upcoming Duster. Renault has confirmed that customers will have multiple powertrain options once the vehicle reaches production.

These options are expected to include petrol, hybrid, and electric variants. Renault has described the Bridger as a “multi-energy vehicle,” highlighting the flexibility of the R-GMP platform.

Safety

Renault has not yet revealed specific safety equipment for the Bridger. However, based on the concept design, the SUV appears to be built with a rugged stance, featuring 200mm of ground clearance and a wide track.

Once the vehicle moves closer to production, it is expected to include standard safety features commonly seen in the compact SUV segment.

India Launch

Renault is expected to launch the Bridger in India by the end of 2027. It is expected to be priced from around ₹7 lakh (ex-showroom), with top variants likely reaching ₹11–12 lakh, positioning it directly against the Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, and Hyundai Venue. The SUV will be developed in India and manufactured at Renault’s Chennai production facility. The plant will serve both domestic and export markets, underlining Renault’s strategy of using India as a key hub for its global operations.
