With a 162 km range, retro styling, and a feature-packed electric setup, Royal Enfield’s first EV undercuts expectations with a sub-Rs 2 lakh entry point via BaaS.
After months of anticipation, Royal Enfield has launched its first electric motorbike, the Flying Flea C6, at a premium price of Rs 2.97 lakhs. This is an important step for the brand as it enters the realm of electric vehicles. Unlike other motorcycles from the company that have relied purely on internal combustion engines, the Flying Flea C6 electric motorbike combines retro styling with contemporary electric vehicle technology to form an urban-focused electric roadster. If the close-to-Rs 3 lakh mark sounds expensive, RE will offer the Battery as a Service option that will bring down the price to an enticing Rs 1.99 lakhs.
Design & Appearance
The appearance of the Flying Flea C6 electric bike is based on a neo-retro design language, keeping up with Royal Enfield’s heritage. Some key design aspects of this model include a circular LED headlamp and slim body panels. One of the most interesting aspects is the girder-type front suspension.
Features and Equipment
The motorcycle features a round TFT instrument cluster with a 3.5-inch display screen, providing connectivity for a smartphone. Riders can access functions like navigation, call and SMS notifications, a music player function, and other ride-related information. There are five riding modes available – City, Rain, Highway, Sport, and Custom. Safety features include a traction control system, dual-channel switchable ABS, hill-hold assist, a smartphone wireless charger, and a USB-C port. An additional bidirectional crawl mode has been provided to make riding more convenient.
Battery, Motor, and Performance
The motorcycle gets a 3.91 kWh capacity battery pack and an electric motor generating a maximum power output of 15.4 kW, with a maximum torque of 60 Nm. An Indian Drive Cycle (IDC) range of 162 km makes it ideal for daily riding. The 124 kg motorcycle can accelerate from 0–60 kmph in 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 115 kmph. It takes 60 minutes to charge from 20% to 80%.
Suspension
The C6 is based on a light chassis design and weighs only 124 kg. It rides on 19-inch aluminium wheels at both ends with road-focused tyres. The suspension system features a girder fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear.
Price and Limited Launch: Who is it for?
The Royal Enfield Flying Flea C6 electric motorbike is positioned as a lifestyle statement with premium pricing at Rs 2.97 lakhs, comparable to the Himalayan 450, Ultraviolet F77, and X47. Its neo-retro styling targets city commuters, but it has a limited range of 162 km. The launch will be phased, starting with Bangalore and then other metro cities, to gather consumer feedback before a pan-India release.
