Spotted testing on Indian roads, the Royal Enfield GT-R 750 offers a clear preview of the production model expected to launch in the fourth quarter of financial year 2026-2027. The bike embodies classic cafe racer styling, enhanced by a sporty quarter fairing. A production version is anticipated to debut at the 2026 EICMA show.
Styling
From the spy shots, it is evident that there is a strong café racer influence, reminiscent of the British racing motorcycles of the 1950s and 1960s. The GT-R 750 comes with a quarter fairing, in addition to a swept-back transparent windscreen. This gets the new bike in line with the Continental GT-R cup bike that RE has been racing.
Royal Enfield has maintained its classic design elements, including the contoured fuel tank with knee indents, as well as the minimalist seat. The crankcase cover looks like a carry forward from the current generation 650, so are the up-swept exhaust pipes that complete the café racer look..
The speedometer and tachometer are housed in the classic circular pods, and like the GT 650 will have a small LCD display for the trip meters, fuel level, odometer readings.
Engine
The motor appears to be an evolution of RE’s current 650cc twin-cylinder engine, as the crankcase design suggests. The displacement increase of 100cc is anticipated to result in a modest performance improvement, with power expected to reach approximately 55bhp and torque around 65Nm.
Riding Ergonomics and Hardware
The design features high-set clip-on handlebars paired with rear-biased footpegs, creating a sportier, café-racer riding posture that still maintains practicality for daily use. The Continental GT-R 750 design seems to strike a balance between retro looks and modernity.
Platform and Variant Strategy
The Continental GT-R 750 is likely to be just one of the variants to be produced from the upcoming Royal Enfield 750cc platform. Another variant expected from the same platform is the Continental GT 750, which was spotted earlier without a fairing and a digital display which seems to be borrowed from the RE Himalayan 450.
Conclusion
The new Royal Enfield Continental GT-R 750, with its classic fairing, analog dials, and café racer riding position, is a notable upgrade to the GT series. The expected ₹20,000 premium over the current model seems reasonable for the 750cc variant. Though the bike does not have any direct competition in terms of cubic capacity, its main rivals are expected to be the Aprilia RS457 and the soon-to-be-launched TVS Apache RTR 450.
