The refreshed compact SUV is expected to get a new turbo-petrol engine, updated styling, and more premium features.
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza is set to receive its first major facelift since its introduction in 2022. In addition to teasing the new model, the company has also started accepting bookings for the refreshed compact SUV through authorised dealerships and the official website for a token amount of Rs 11,000.
While the teaser video reveals very little of the SUV’s silhouette and profile, the vehicle is being touted as ‘the season’s biggest play’. The company claims the Brezza has sold more than 1.4 million units since its launch in 2016 and is among the best-selling compact SUVs in the country.
Changes outside and inside
While not much has been revealed through the teaser, spy shots suggest that the refreshed Brezza is likely to receive only cosmetic updates, with no radical redesign. These changes are expected to include revised front and rear bumpers, updated LED headlights, and a new wheel design, while retaining the signature SUV silhouette.
On the inside, the SUV is expected to get new upholstery, updated dashboard trim, and several premium additions. The most notable expected features include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated front seats, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, ambient lighting, and improved connectivity features. Contrary to earlier reports, the facelift is not expected to feature an ADAS package.
More engine options
The biggest changes are expected under the hood. Maruti Suzuki Brezza is likely to introduce the 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine. The engine is already offered on the Fronx and produces 100 PS and 147.6 Nm of torque. It is expected to be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission, driving the front wheels.
The existing 1.5-litre K15C Smart Hybrid petrol engine is also expected to continue in the line-up. The CNG variant could feature an underbody-mounted CNG tank instead of the current boot-mounted unit, freeing up additional luggage space.
Competitive pricing
The introduction of the turbocharged 1.0-litre engine could also help Maruti Suzuki price the Brezza more competitively, as sub-four-metre petrol vehicles with engines up to 1.2 litres attract a lower GST rate.
