Yamaha has added a new motorcycle to its R-series line-up with the launch of the R2 in India. Priced from Rs 2.30 lakh, the R2 gets a new 204cc engine and sits above the R15 in the range. Here are five things you need to know about Yamaha’s latest supersport.
1. Yamaha R2 Price Starts At Rs 2.30 Lakh
The R2 is available in three variants, with prices going up to Rs 2.53 lakh for the range-topping R2M.
2. It Drops The R15’s Delta Box Frame
The R2 takes a different approach to its chassis compared to the R15. Instead of the R15’s Delta Box frame, Yamaha has used a high-tensile steel diamond frame with an aluminium swingarm. The motorcycle weighs 149kg.
3. It Gets A New 204cc Engine
The R2 is powered by a 204cc, liquid-cooled, four-valve, single-cylinder engine producing 26.5 PS and 19.1 Nm. It also gets an assist and slipper clutch, electronically controlled throttle, DiASil cylinder and finger rocker-arm valve system.
4. There Is Plenty Of Technology
The R2 gets Street, Sport and Rain riding modes, along with traction control. It also features a five-inch colour TFT instrument cluster with turn-by-turn navigation and Yamaha Y-Connect smartphone connectivity.
5. R2M Is The Most Loaded Version
Priced at Rs 2.53 lakh, the R2M gets adjustable front and rear preload, a smart key, adjustable clutch and brake levers, faux-suede seat and blue wheels, along with additional cosmetic detailing.
The R2 gives Yamaha fans a more powerful option without jumping straight to a much bigger bike. Starting at Rs 2.30 lakh, it could make sense for R15 riders who are ready for that next step.
