Next-gen Hyundai Creta Spotted Testing

February 12, 2026 Yoshika Chhabra

Hyundai is preparing for the global launch of the next-generation Creta in 2027, with the vehicle recently spotted undergoing final testing. This development aligns with Hyundai’s scheduled updates for its top-selling models in India. The new model will first debut internationally before being introduced to the Indian market. Since its original launch in 2015, the Creta has consistently been a best-seller for Hyundai across India and other developing markets. The current generation was released in 2020, followed by a significant update in 2024.

Exterior

The 2027 Creta spy shots reveal that the overall silhouette remains true to the current Creta instead of undergoing a substantial redesign. The test vehicle rides on 19-inch alloy wheels with 235/45-section tyres, but these wheels will likely be reserved for higher variants only.

Interior

The spied Creta shows Hyundai working to improve both comfort and usability features inside the cabin. The vehicle now features new upholstery materials and an enhanced seat design for better comfort, and a boss mode function has been added to improve the rear seat experience. The car also gets tech updates that concentrate on developing infotainment systems, connected features and driver assistance technology.

Engine and Transmission

The powertrain for the Creta will be shared with its Korean sibling, the Kia Seltos. Like the Seltos, we expect the Creta to retain the existing powertrain options as the current model. These include a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol paired with a 6-speed manual or CVT, a 1.5L turbo petrol offered with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT) and a 6-speed manual. The 1.5L turbo diesel will come with the option of a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

Hybrid Option

The premium crossover segment is becoming highly competitive, especially with Renault introducing a new electric hybrid powertrain for the Duster. In response to this trend, hybrid crossovers are anticipated to become a common feature in this segment. Consequently, Hyundai is also expected to launch the SUV in India next year with a similar hybrid powertrain option.

The new Creta model will begin its global market entry in 2027 following its present testing and validation phase. An India launch is expected to follow the global introduction, so we can expect the car to arrive on our shores sometime in mid-2027.
