New Skoda Epiq EV Breaks Cover – Could This Affordable Electric SUV Come To India?

May 21, 2026 Admin

The Epiq combines modern SUV styling, premium features and practical range figures for global markets.

Czech car manufacturer Skoda Auto, it has unveiled the production-ready version of the brand’s Epiq, which is expected to become the most affordable electric vehicle offered by the company in Europe. Positioned below the Skoda Elroq in the brand’s global EV lineup, the Epiq represents another step towards electric mobility for the manufacturer.

Originally showcased as a concept more than two years ago and later revealed in near-production form at the Munich Motor Show 2025, the new Skoda Epiq features modern styling and offers a driving range of up to 440 km.

Modern Solid Design Language

In terms of exterior styling, the Epiq borrows elements of rugged SUV design while adding EV-inspired touches. At the front, there is a blacked-out grille section with illuminated ‘SKODA’ branding on the bonnet. The SUV also gets LED daytime running lamps along with ‘L’-shaped LED headlamps. The chunky front bumper features several horizontal slats and a silver skid plate.

Moving to the sides, the Epiq comes with body cladding, aerodynamic alloy wheels ranging from 17 to 19 inches, black roof rails and ‘SKODA’ badges on the C-pillars. At the rear, the SUV gets T-shaped LED tail-lamps, a roof spoiler and a sculpted bumper.

Speaking of dimensions, the Epiq measures 4,171 mm in length, 1,798 mm in width and 1,581 mm in height, while the wheelbase stands at 2,601 mm. Skoda also claims that the drag coefficient is as low as 0.275.

Cabin With Features & Practicality

The interior of the Epiq features a minimalist layout with colour themes such as grey, mint green and brown. There’s a 13-inch Android-based infotainment screen on the dashboard, paired with a compact digital instrument cluster and a two-spoke steering wheel.

Unlike many modern EVs, Skoda has retained several physical controls, including buttons below the AC vents and on the steering wheel. Ambient lighting strips on the dashboard and doors further enhance the cabin experience, while the floating centre console adds extra storage space.

Other features on offer include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, a 10-speaker Canton audio system, a 360-degree camera, an ADAS suite, seven airbags, and vehicle-to-load (V2L) as well as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging. Cargo capacity stands at 475 litres, along with an additional 25-litre front storage compartment.

Battery, Powertrain And Range

Based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB+ platform, which it shares with the future Volkswagen ID Polo, the Epiq will be offered with two battery packs — 38.5 kWh and 55 kWh.

The base Epiq 35 produces 116 hp, while the Epiq 40 delivers 135 hp. Both versions use the smaller battery pack and generate 267 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the flagship Epiq 55 comes equipped with the larger 55 kWh battery pack and produces 211 hp along with 290 Nm of torque.

According to Skoda, the smaller battery pack offers a driving range of 310 km, while the larger unit can deliver up to 440 km on a single charge. Additionally, the 55 kWh battery pack can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 24 minutes using a DC fast charger.

Is It Coming To India?

While Skoda Auto India has not officially confirmed the Epiq for the Indian market yet, the compact electric SUV could become a strong contender in India’s growing mass-market EV segment if introduced in the future. With its sub-4.2-metre dimensions, practical cabin and competitive range figures, the Epiq could rival models such as the Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6 and upcoming affordable EVs from Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki.

The Epiq also aligns with Skoda’s broader electrification strategy for India, where the company is expected to expand its EV portfolio over the next few years as charging infrastructure and consumer demand continue to improve.
