New 350cc variants undercut 390 range by Rs 62,000, retaining core features while making KTM’s performance bikes more accessible in India

KTM has added yet another segment to its mid-range bike range with a launch in India. The launch includes two bike variants, namely the KTM 390 Duke and KTM 390 Adventure, priced at Rs 2.77 lakh onwards. The newly launched bikes aim to bring the premium brand within reach, while the 399cc variants of both bikes will continue to be sold.

Price and Positioning

The new 390 Duke is priced at Rs 2.77 lakh and the 390 Adventure at Rs 2.81 lakh. The bikes cost nearly Rs 62,000 less compared to their 399cc equivalents.

In the naming convention too, some tweaking has been done. To ensure that customers do not confuse the bikes, the older version of the KTM 390 Duke has been named the 390 Duke R, while the 390 Adventure variants will carry ‘S’ and ‘X’ suffixes.

Engine and Power

The updated bikes feature a 349.32cc engine with a power output of 41.5hp at 8,600rpm and torque of 33.5Nm at 7,000rpm. In comparison with the 399cc engines, there is a reduction of 4.5hp and 5.5Nm respectively.

Notwithstanding the reduction in power and torque, the figures are adequate for both commuting and touring activities.

Features and Specification

The chassis, wheelbase, ground clearance, and ergonomics are carried over from the earlier motorcycles. The same applies to the onboard technologies, including the TFT screen and other electronics. As a result, customers will not feel like they are choosing the cheaper versions.

Conclusion

KTM has astutely broadened its scope within India’s cutthroat market space by introducing the 350cc variants. This move allows the brand to offer consumers value for money without compromising on performance.
