All-new parallel-twin engine, strong performance potential, and a sweet spot between the 390 and 790 Duke position it as a game-changer.

The long-rumoured 2027 KTM 490 Duke naked bike has reportedly been spotted during overseas testing, marking a return for a model that was previously scrapped. The spy pictures below indicate that KTM may be ready to make use of its trademark twin-cylinder configuration once more.
Filling An Important Performance Gap In The Lineup
As we speak of KTM’s next-gen offering, it is important to remember that the company has a wide lineup of naked motorcycles. While there is a noticeable gap between the 43 hp-producing KTM 390 Duke and the 95 hp 790 Duke, there has been no solution so far.
New Parallel-Twin Engine

Another notable feature of the upcoming motorcycle is that it will have a new parallel-twin engine instead of the single-cylinder engine currently present in KTM’s motorcycles under the 500 cc mark.
The expected power output will be around 55–60 hp, making it a great choice for riders seeking a balance between performance and everyday usability.
In addition, the new engine is being developed in collaboration with Bajaj and assembled in India, which helps keep prices in check. The engine will also be shared with Triumph for its 500 cc motorcycles.
Design and Features
Despite the prototype motorcycle being heavily camouflaged, it is expected that the 490 Duke will follow KTM’s signature streetfighter design philosophy and resemble other Duke models.
Feature-wise, advanced elements such as a TFT display, multiple riding modes, a traction control system, and high-quality brakes are expected on the bike.
India Launch & Positioning
The KTM 490 Duke will be manufactured at the Chakan facility near Pune, with competitive pricing, potentially around ₹3.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Launch timelines are yet to be finalised, but there are rumours that it could arrive in 2027, with India likely being one of the key target markets.
