The automaker had a good start to FY2027 with domestic sales up 12.6% between April and August. That growth continued into August, when the company posted its best-ever domestic sales for the month.
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) sold 65,796 units in August 2026 of which 54,396 units were sold in the domestic market. The remaining 11,400 units were exported. Domestic sales were up 23.6% over August 2025, while overall sales increased by 8.8%.
The August figure is the highest domestic sales number the company has recorded for the month. Hyundai says the performance reflects continued demand for its range of vehicles in India.
Exports were a different story during the month. The company said shipments were affected by logistical constraints linked to the ongoing conflict in West Asia and the wider geopolitical situation.
Despite the disruption, Hyundai expects export demand to remain strong in the months ahead as the geopolitical situation improves.
Tarun Garg, MD and CEO, Hyundai Motor India, said the company continues to see strong growth in FY2027. He also pointed to the August domestic sales figure as a reflection of the popularity of its product portfolio.
Domestic sales were up 12.6% in the April-August period and the company will be looking to carry the momentum for the rest of FY2027.
