New variant adds premium tech like a 360-degree camera and digital cluster to lower trims, boosting value without raising costs.
Hyundai Motor India has introduced the Hyundai Creta Summer Edition as its latest offering, aimed at making additional features available in lower and mid-level trims. The SUV is priced from around Rs 12.06 lakh (ex-showroom).
Features in the New Summer Edition
This variant of the Creta comes with additional features in the lower and mid-level trims. While the top trims remain unchanged in terms of features, their prices have increased by Rs 10,000 to Rs 55,000, depending on the variant.
The entry-level EX trim now comes with keyless entry and a push-button start-stop function, which were earlier available only in higher trims. Similarly, the mid-level EX(O) variant offers all-LED lighting, including quad-beam LED headlamps, DRLs, LED tail lamps, and turn indicators, along with a rear-view camera and sunshades.
Feature Additions on Various Trims
Features such as a dashcam have been added to the S(O) and S(O) Knight Edition trims, where they were previously unavailable.
On the SX trim level, Hyundai has included a larger 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster for a more premium cabin experience.
The biggest upgrades can be seen on the SX Premium trim, which now includes features like a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, and front parking sensors—features that were earlier limited to higher-end trims.
Engine & Transmission Choices
In terms of performance, there are no changes to the Summer Edition. It continues with the 1.5-litre petrol engine producing 115 hp and 144 Nm, and the 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 116 hp and 250 Nm.
These engines are available with multiple gearbox options, including manual, CVT, and torque-converter automatic transmissions. The higher-output 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine is not offered with the Summer Edition.
Market Positioning
As competition intensifies in the mid-size SUV segment with rivals like the Volkswagen Taigun, Hyundai’s move ensures that the Creta remains competitive. By offering premium features at a lower price point, Hyundai enhances the SUV’s value without altering its core strengths.
Conclusion
The Hyundai Creta Summer Edition can be seen as a value-focused upgrade rather than a major overhaul. By adding premium features at a relatively accessible price point, Hyundai aims to make its best-selling SUV even more appealing.
