Hyundai’s new SUV gets ‘BRING IT ON’ camouflage with ‘ON’ highlighted in red, fuelling speculation that it could be called Bayon in India.
Hyundai’s upcoming mid-size SUV has been spotted testing in India once again. While earlier spy shots have already revealed details about its design and cabin, the latest test mule stands out with unusual camouflage carrying a prominent “BRING IT ON” message. Here are five key things you need to know about Hyundai’s upcoming SUV.
‘Bring It On’ Could Be A Name Teaser
Unlike the usual black camouflage, the latest test vehicle is wrapped in white camouflage featuring words such as Innovation, Transformation, Inspiration, Reflection and Expression. However, the most prominent message is “BRING IT ON”, displayed across the doors.
Interestingly, the letters “ON” have been highlighted in red at several places on the camouflage. This has sparked speculation that Hyundai could be subtly teasing the SUV’s India name.
Is Hyundai Bringing The Bayon To India?
The repeated emphasis on “ON” is particularly interesting because the international model associated with Hyundai’s upcoming SUV is called the Bayon. The upcoming crossover will sit between the Creta and Venue and will be based on the K2 platform. The name itself ends with “ON”, raising the possibility that Hyundai could be using the camouflage as an early hint towards its production name.
However, Hyundai has not officially confirmed the name yet, so the highlighted “ON” could simply be part of the company’s pre-launch communication strategy.
Upright SUV Design
Despite the heavy camouflage, the upcoming SUV appears to feature an upright and practical design inspired by Hyundai’s ‘Art of Steel’ philosophy. It gets a relatively flat roofline, substantial wheel arches, roof rails and conventional door handles.
The front appears to feature a wide lighting signature positioned close to the bonnet, with the main lighting elements placed lower down. At the rear, a horizontal lighting element appears to run across the tailgate, while the upright windscreen gets a prominent roof spoiler.
Dual-Screen Cabin Expected
Previous spy shots have revealed a horizontally laid-out dashboard with two integrated digital screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment system.
The SUV is also expected to feature a steering wheel similar to the latest-generation Venue, including Hyundai’s four-dot branding. Other expected equipment includes a 360-degree camera, sunroof, connected-car technology and ADAS functions.
Petrol And CNG Powertrains Expected
Hyundai is expected to offer the new SUV primarily with petrol powertrains. One possibility is the familiar 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine used by the Creta, which produces 115 PS and 143.8 Nm and is offered with manual and IVT options. A factory-fitted CNG version is also reportedly under consideration.
Hyundai is yet to announce the SUV’s official name, specifications or launch timeline.
