March 11, 2026 Yoshika Chhabra

The luxury MPV market in India is growing steadily, driven by increasing demand for chauffeur-driven luxury and mobility. In a bid to further cement its presence in the luxury MPV market, Mercedes-Benz has launched the 2026 Mercedes-Benz V-Class Extra LWB, priced at ₹1.4 crore (ex-showroom). The luxury MPV is now locally assembled, making it more competitive in the market while further solidifying Mercedes-Benz’s presence in India.

Dimensions and Configuration

For India, Mercedes-Benz is launching only the Extra LWB variant of the V-Class. This variant is the longest in the lineup worldwide. The Extra LWB measures 5,370 mm in length, 1,928 mm in width, and 1,880 mm in height. Moreover, it boasts a wheelbase of 3,430 mm. This provides rear passengers with extra room to conduct meetings, effectively turning the V-Class into a mobile office.

In contrast to the V-Class models available worldwide, a sporty aesthetic is offered exclusively for this MPV through the AMG Line trim in India.

Exterior Design

Another major feature of the 2026 V-Class Extra LWB is the exterior colour options. Mercedes-Benz provides five exterior paint finishes that cater to the requirements of both business and individual consumers.

The V-Class Extra LWB is available in a wide variety of colours, including Sodalite Blue, Obsidian Black, High-Tech Silver, Rock Crystal White, and Sodalite Blue. The single non-metallic paint finish is Alpine Grey, which gives an understated look to the V-Class.

The front of the V-Class Extra LWB is highlighted by the AMG Line design, which includes a bold front grille with a large three-pointed star in the center. In addition, the front bumper has ventilation grilles that are part of the AMG Line design. Multibeam LED lights and an LED light strip around the grille give a premium look to the front of the V-Class.

Other notable exterior features include electronically powered sliding doors, a split powered tailgate, LED tail lamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, a large glazed area, and Mercedes logo projection puddle lamps.

Interior and Comfort

The V-Class Extra LWB, like all V-Class models, is designed to offer ample space and comfort inside. The interior is offered in Beige and Black, both made with Lugano leather upholstery. The dashboard is clean and modern, with a large screen dominating the center of the dashboard. This is accompanied by a digital instrument cluster with a TFT screen. Steering wheel controls and a column-mounted gear selector eliminate the need for a tunnel between the front occupants.

The front seats are electronically adjustable and offer memory, ventilation, and thigh support extension. There is ample legroom at the rear, courtesy of the V-Class’s Extra LWB, making this a chauffeur-driven car.

Features

The feature list is consistent with its flagship claim. The presence of Adaptive Multibeam LEDs improves night-time visibility, and the powered sliding doors enhance usability in a crowded city. The powered split tailgate is a welcome addition for luggage compartment accessibility.

Digital instrumentation and infotainment integration conform to the current design language. Safety and driver assistance systems also conform to international norms; however, the level of equipment varies depending on the variant.

Engine
The V300 MPV is available in petrol (mild hybrid) and a diesel option. The 2.0litre petrol engine produces 231hp and 370 Nm of torque. The 2.0 liter turbo diesel puts out 237hp and 500Nm of torque. Both engines put down power to the rear-wheels via a 9-speed torque-converter auto gearbox.

Market Positioning

With local assembly, Mercedes-Benz is well positioned to compete in the burgeoning luxury MPV market. Its competitors include the Toyota Vellfire and the Lexus LM, which primarily target high-net-worth individuals (HNWI) and the fleet market.

Conclusion

With the 2026 V-Class Extra LWB, Mercedes-Benz is strategically re-entering the luxury MPV market in India. It is a longer vehicle with AMG styling and multiple colour options, and to keep costs in check it is locally assembled in the country. It is a chauffeur-driven premium mobility solution that caters to the needs of the super-rich.
