Starting 2026, Mahindra has taken the wraps off the XUV 7XO, a thoroughly
revised version of the XUV700. Launched at an introductory starting price of ₹13.66 lakh (ex-showroom) for the first 40,000 customers, the SUV packs upgrades across design, technology, comfort, safety, and a reworked suspension setup for improved ride quality.
The XUV 7XO preserves the silhouette of the outgoing XUV700, but the face now bears a stronger resemblance to Mahindra’s current SUV lineup. The front end is dominated by a revised Mahindra grille, while boomerang-style LED DRLs and projector headlamps — now a signature of Mahindra SUVs — become standard across the range, except on the Thar and Thar Roxx. At the rear, the LED tail-lamps get updated graphics, though the overall layout remains similar to the 700. The updates feel timely, considering the original model is nearly half a decade old.
While the exterior styling has been restrained, the real transformation comes inside. The XUV 7XO features a triple 12.3-inch screen layout running edge-to-edge, similar to the recently unveiled XEV 9e, offering a fully digital driver display, central infotainment, and a front passenger screen — now standard across variants, making even the entry trims highly attractive to buyers.
For audiophiles, the SUV turns into a personal theatre on wheels with support for both Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, delivered through a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system. Other notable tech includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with Alexa voice assist featuring ChatGPT integration for more natural, conversational voice interaction.
Enhancing the premium cabin experience are ventilated seats for both front and rear passengers, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, and wireless charging with active cooling. To maximise rear-seat comfort, the SUV also gets a “Boss Mode” button, which reclines the front passenger seat forward to free up additional legroom at the back.
Mahindra says the safety kit has been updated extensively, with the SUV now boasting over 120 safety features. These include a surround-view camera, seven airbags, and a Level 2 ADAS suite with adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and autonomous emergency braking. Mahindra is expected to maintain its 5-star safety rating when tested under Bharat NCAP.
Mechanically, the 7XO carries forward the familiar 2.0-litre mStallion TGDi petrol and 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engines, available with 6-speed manual or automatic transmissions, driving the front wheels as standard. AWD is limited to select diesel trims.
Ride comfort was a strength of the XUV700, and Mahindra claims this improves further thanks to the new DAVINCI damping system, which makes its global debut on the XUV 7XO. We’ll report on its real-world performance once we get behind the wheel.
Bookings open on January 14, 2026, and deliveries begin mid-January 2026. The prices listed in the table below are introductory.
