The XUV 7XO will serve as Mahindra’s flagship internal combustion engine (ICE) SUV, replacing the outgoing XUV700 in the company’s lineup.
Exterior
Official teasers and spy images indicate that the XUV 7XO will retain the overall silhouette of the current XUV700, with exterior revisions limited to the front and rear. Updates include new LED headlamps, a reworked grille, and refreshed tail-lamp graphics.
Interior
While the exterior updates are subtle, official teasers confirm significant changes to the cabin. The SUV will feature a triple-screen setup comprising a digital instrument cluster, a central touchscreen for infotainment, and a dedicated passenger-side display. This layout has previously been seen on Mahindra’s electric SUVs—the XEV 9S and XEV 9e.
The teaser also reveals a new two-spoke steering wheel finished in a two-tone colour scheme, along with an updated centre console. Following current industry trends, Mahindra has removed physical heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) controls in favour of touch-capacitive interfaces integrated into the infotainment screen.
Additional interior features previewed include ambient lighting, a powered Boss Mode that allows the front passenger seat to be adjusted electrically from the rear, and an upgraded Harman Kardon audio system, replacing the Sony unit used in the current XUV700.
Powertrain
Under the bonnet, the XUV 7XO is expected to carry forward the existing powertrain options from the XUV700. These include a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel unit, both offered with 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. The diesel engine will also be available with optional all-wheel drive.
Launch
Mahindra has opened pre-bookings for the XUV 7XO ahead of its official reveal. Full pricing and a detailed feature list are expected to be announced at or shortly after the January 5 debut. The SUV will continue to compete in the mid-size SUV segment against rivals such as the Tata Safari, MG Hector, and Hyundai
