The new six-seat configuration replaces the second-row bench with captain’s chairs, improving comfort and access to the third row.
Mahindra has added a new six-seat configuration to the XEV 9S range, starting at Rs 25.25 lakh (ex-showroom). The new layout is offered on most variants except the base Pack One Above.
The second-row bench is replaced by two captain’s chairs. Each seat has its own armrests, while the space between them makes it easier to access the third row.
The extra room also gives those in the third row more freedom to stretch their legs. Other features include rear air-conditioning vents and dual 65W USB charging ports.
The six-seat option is Rs 25,000 more expensive than the equivalent seven-seater. It is available in the Pack Two Above, Pack Three and Pack Three Above trims.
Range and Battery Options
Depending on the variant, the XEV 9S six-seater is available with 70kWh and 79kWh battery packs. Both feature a single rear-mounted electric motor with outputs of up to 286hp and 380Nm. The 70kWh battery in the Pack Two Above produces a lower 245hp.
The 70kWh model claims a range of up to 600km, while the 79kWh variant can manage up to 679km.
Prices and Competitors
The six-seater XEV 9S is priced between Rs 25.25 lakh and Rs 30.15 lakh, excluding the 11.2kW AC charger. Currently, the only other model in this segment to offer both six- and seven-seat configurations is the Kia Carens Clavis EV.
The new option offers XEV 9S buyers a more premium and comfortable cabin layout without major changes to its electric powertrain or equipment.
