Mahindra BE 7 Spotted Testing with Frameless Doors Ahead of August Debut

Fresh spy shots reveal Mahindra’s upcoming electric SUV retaining the BE.07 concept’s design while packing premium frameless doors.

Continuing with the development of its Born Electric (BE) vehicles, the soon-to-be-launched BE 7 has been spotted testing for the first time around the Mahindra SUV Proving Track (MSPT) in Chennai. Positioned as a practical alternative to the sporty Mahindra BE 6, the BE 7 seems to keep the styling of the BE.07 concept intact while featuring unique features such as frameless doors, something unusual for this price range.

The latest spy photos depict two camouflaged test vehicles being tested before their global premiere early next month.

Design Based on BE.07 Concept

The test vehicles clearly suggest that the production version of the BE 7 will adopt the design philosophy of the BE.07 concept. It features a muscular profile, an upright design with a boxy body shape, along with strong C-pillars and aggressive body lines.

Other prominent features are pop-out flush door handles, wheel-arch cladding, large alloy wheels, an integrated rear wiper in the roof spoiler, and frameless doors, which add to the sporty styling of the EV.

Modern Cabin and Proven EV Powertrain

Although the interior has not been fully revealed yet, it can be expected that the final model will have a conventionally designed cockpit like Mahindra’s latest XEV SUVs. This would involve the use of a triple 12.3-inch screen system, premium seats, sporty seats, and a conventional dashboard, which will be based on the XEV 9e and XEV 9S.

Conclusion

The BE 7 is built on the INGLO platform like the BE 6, XEV 9e, and XEV 9S. Going by the BE 6 and XEV 9e, expect Mahindra to stick as close as possible to the concept car that was unveiled. It will come with two battery options to choose from—59kWh and 79kWh—that should deliver a driving range of about 500km and 600km, respectively. August 15 could be the date of its global unveil.
