KTM Unveils New 790 Duke With Major Chassis And Ergonomic Upgrades

Updated middleweight naked bike gets revised ergonomics, suspension and brakes while retaining its 799cc parallel-twin engine.

KTM has revealed the refreshed 790 Duke, which gets the most extensive updates since the introduction of the mid-sized naked bike. Apart from the tried-and-tested 799cc LC8c parallel-twin engine, KTM has done major overhauls to improve the ergonomics and handling of the bike.

The newly launched 790 Duke has been given a refresh in terms of styling, moving closer to KTM’s current design philosophy, as seen on the 990 Duke and the flagship 1390 Super Duke R.

Upgraded Ergonomics and Enhanced Handling

Some of the notable changes include modifications made to the ergonomics of the 790 Duke. KTM has equipped the bike with a new handlebar with an increased degree of angle and a redesigned seating position.

Furthermore, there is a new subframe, updated triple clamps, and a reshaped fuel tank. As per KTM’s statements, these modifications provide better feedback from the front wheel to the rider and improved control of the vehicle.

New Body Design Taking Inspiration From Other Bigger Dukes

Speaking about the design of the motorcycle, it looks very different from its predecessor and can be easily compared to other naked bikes from the brand. The redesigned motorcycle features a new LED headlight, thinner body panels, a bigger front cowling, and a reshaped fuel tank.

Thanks to the aggressive design, the motorcycle looks more premium and, at the same time, takes inspiration from other Dukes – the 990 Duke and 1390 Super Duke R.

Engine Has Not Undergone Any Modification

The engine remains the same as before. It is a 799cc LC8c engine that generates a power output of 105 hp and 87 Nm of torque and is fitted with a 6-speed gearbox and slip-assist clutch.

The engine’s exhaust system has also been altered with an upgraded muffler. Some international markets will get a 95 hp model in compliance with the A2 licence.

Suspension And Braking System Upgrades

WP APEX components are still used for the motorcycle’s suspension system; however, both the fork and the shock have been revamped. The 43mm inverted front fork features adjustments for compression and rebound damping, while the rear monoshock can be adjusted in terms of preload and rebound. The company states that the suspension system has become easier to fine-tune due to the new five-click tuning system.

Another notable addition is the WP-branded radial brake system that has replaced the previous KTM-branded J.Juan model. According to the company, the new brakes provide enhanced stopping capabilities, increased modulation, and a more progressive lever action. The new WP steering damper and Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres are included as standard equipment.

Launch Schedule

The new version of the KTM 790 Duke is slated to hit stores globally from late July 2026 onwards. KTM India has yet to confirm that the new version will make its debut in India. Currently, the KTM 890 Duke R, which is sportier than the 790 Duke, is available in India for Rs 14.50 lakh.
