Kia Syros EV Unveiled with 526km Range; Bookings Open at INR 25,000 Ahead of Launch

Kia’s second mass-market electric SUV promises segment-leading range, 39-minute fast charging and a choice of two battery packs.

Recently, the Kia Syros EV was snapped undisguised during a TVC shoot, and today the Korean automaker has released fresh details about its second mass-market EV after the Carens Clavis EV.

The Syros EV shares its underpinnings with its ICE counterpart and comes with two battery options — 42kWh and 51.4kWh. The 42kWh battery offers a 442km (MIDC) claimed range, while the larger pack delivers a segment-leading 526km (MIDC). In the real world, this translates to 310-354km of range for the smaller battery pack and 368-421km for the larger battery pack.

For now, details are still limited, but Kia has confirmed that the Syros EV with the 51.4kWh battery produces 171PS, which is sent to the front wheels. Kia claims these power figures make it the most powerful car in its segment.

The Kia Syros EV also boasts best-in-segment DC fast charging, taking the battery from 10% to 80% in just 39 minutes using a 100kW charger. This means charging on long trips should not be a problem.

Speaking of long drives, Kia offers K-Charge, which unifies more than 20,300 charging points across India’s top 23 charging stations through a single wallet on the MyKia app. The app also allows the Kia Syros EV owners to locate charging stations, pay for charging, and access features such as charging history and other diagnostics.

Like the exterior, the interior borrows heavily from the Syros ICE. It gets a wide infotainment display, a Harman Kardon premium eight-speaker sound system, and Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates.

On the safety front, Kia is offering Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, Blind View Monitor, and front, rear, and side parking sensors to make parking in tight spaces easier. In addition, the Syros EV comes with six airbags, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), ISOFIX child-seat anchorages, Rear Occupant Alert, and an Electric Parking Brake with Auto Hold as standard.

Dealers have started accepting bookings for the Kia Syros EV with a booking amount of Rs 25,000. The available variants are listed below:

Battery Pack Trim
(42 kWh) HTK
HTK+
HTX
Extended Range
(51.4 kWh)
HTK+ ER
HTX ER
HTX+ ER
X-Line ER

To make the EV more accessible, Kia has introduced an Assured Buyback Programme along with Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS). This should help the Syros EV be priced competitively against its main rivals, the Tata Nexon EV and the MG Windsor EV.
