Kia’s new electric SUV gets up to 526km claimed range, premium features, and a Battery-as-a-Service option from Rs 7.99 lakh.
Kia Motors India has launched its second all-electric model, the Syros EV, in India at an introductory price of Rs 13.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The Syros EV is now Kia’s most affordable electric car, with prices going up to Rs 20 lakh for the X-Line Extended Range top-spec variant. In addition, the electric SUV is offered under Kia’s Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme, under which the starting price drops to Rs 7.99 lakh, with customers paying Rs 3.3 per km for battery leasing.
This makes the Syros EV, Kia India’s second mainstream electric vehicle after the Carens Clavis EV. Deliveries of the electric SUV are expected to begin on July 30.
The electric SUV gets two battery options with best-in-class range
The Syros EV comes with 42kWh and 51.4kWh battery packs, shared with the Hyundai Creta Electric and Kia Carens Clavis EV. However, due to its smaller size and lighter body, Kia claims the Syros EV offers a best-in-class ARAI-certified range of 526km with the 51.4kWh battery pack and 443km with the 42kWh battery pack.

The smaller battery pack is paired with a 135hp, 255Nm front-mounted electric motor, while the 51.4kWh battery gets a 171hp, 255Nm motor. According to Kia, the larger battery version can accelerate from 0-100kph in 8.1 seconds, making it one of the fastest cars in its category.
The vehicle can be charged using 7.4kW and 10.8kW AC chargers. Furthermore, a 100kW DC fast charger can recharge the larger battery from 10 to 80 percent in 39 minutes.
Luxurious interior and feature-loaded cabin
The cabin retains the contemporary design of the Syros and features Kia’s Trinity Panoramic Display, which includes dual 12.3-inch screens and a 5-inch climate control display. Other notable features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Harman Kardon sound system, wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, 64-colour ambient lighting, a dual-camera dashcam, and a 16-litre front boot.
One of the Syros EV’s unique features continues to be its segment-exclusive sliding, reclining, and ventilated rear seats, along with powered and ventilated front seats.

The SUV comes in nine exterior colours, while the X-Line version is offered in Matte Graphite and Black.
Lifetime battery warranty
To boost buyer confidence, Kia has announced that the Syros EV will come with a lifetime battery warranty, along with an assured buyback programme, ensuring a resale value of 80 percent after three years of ownership. Even so, considering its pricing above the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV, it can be positioned as a premium compact electric SUV.
