Kia’s new flagship SUV is set to arrive in India with hybrid AWD, diesel power, three rows of seats and a long list of premium features.

Kia has officially unveiled the India-spec Sorento ahead of its launch on September 4. The three-row SUV will become the brand’s new flagship model in India, offering a combination of premium features, strong-hybrid technology and a diesel engine. Here are four important things to know about the upcoming Kia Sorento.
1. Two Powertrains, Including Hybrid All-Wheel Drive

Kia has confirmed strong-hybrid and diesel powertrains for India. The hybrid is powered by a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine and an electric motor, producing a combined 238hp and 380Nm. Importantly, it will get all-wheel drive, making it a unique offering in its segment.
The diesel variant uses a 2.0-litre engine that produces 202hp and 441Nm. Both versions are expected to be paired with automatic transmissions.
2. Premium Cabin With Three Rows Of Seats

The Sorento’s interior features a modern dashboard with a connected dual-screen setup for the digital instrument cluster and infotainment system. Both screens are likely to measure 12.3 inches.
Other highlights include ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, a digital inside rear-view mirror and an electrically operated tailgate.
It is expected to be available in both six- and seven-seat configurations. The SUV measures 4,815mm in length, 1,900mm in width and 1,700mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,815mm. It will slot in above the Seltos and Carens in Kia’s India line-up.
3. Technology And Safety Features Galore
Kia will equip the Sorento with a lengthy list of technology and safety features, including ADAS functions and a 360-degree camera. It will also feature Kia’s new AI assistant, which is making its global debut on the India-spec Sorento.
4. Launch, Bookings And Price Expectations

Kia has begun production of the Sorento at its Anantapur plant in Andhra Pradesh and has started accepting bookings. With a fair degree of localisation, the SUV is expected to be priced competitively at around Rs 30 lakh-Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Kia Sorento will go on sale in India on September 4, when the official prices will be announced.
