2027 Mahindra Thar Facelift Spied With New Grille, 19-Inch Alloys

The new Thar facelift gets a new retro-inspired grille, bigger alloys and could also get more features including Level 2 ADAS.

Mahindra is working on a facelift for the 3-door Thar and the latest test mule features a new grille and alloy wheel design. The new SUV is due later this year and could also receive a host of new features. Here are the 5 things you should know about the upcoming Mahindra Thar facelift.

1. New Thar receives retro inspired grille

The new test mule gets a distinctive four-bar slatted grille that lends a more retro appeal to the Thar. The grille is different from the Roxx-like design on earlier test mules and more rectangular.

2. Larger 19-Inch Alloys

The facelifted Thar has been spotted with a new five-spoke alloy wheel design that resembles the units offered on the Thar Roxx. These are expected to measure 19 inches and could be reserved for higher variants. The current 3-door Thar uses 16-inch and 18-inch wheels, depending on the variant.

3. More Features Could Be Added

The Thar facelift could gain several features already available on the Thar Roxx, including Level 2 ADAS. Other possible additions include ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, wireless charging, auto-folding ORVMs, keyless entry with push-button start and an auto-dimming IRVM.

4. Current Engines Will Remain

The Thar facelift is expected to retain its current engine line-up. The 1.5-litre diesel produces 117hp and 300Nm and is available with RWD and a six-speed manual.

The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol develops 150hp and 300Nm with the manual, while the automatic version produces 320Nm. The 2.2-litre diesel makes 130hp and 300Nm and is offered exclusively with 4WD.

5. Anticipated Launch Later This Year

Mahindra hasn’t given an official launch date but the increasing number of test mules suggests that the facelift is getting closer to production. The new Thar will continue with its familiar three-door layout with styling and feature upgrades.
