The sticker price is just the beginning with a Maserati in India. Maintenance runs Rs. 5–8 lakh a year, and that is under normal circumstances — anything that needs a part from outside the country adds a 4 to 8 week wait on top of the bill. There are only 2–3 authorised service centres in the entire country, so depending on where you live, even routine servicing is not straightforward.
Nobody buys a Maserati because it makes financial sense. It is a prestige decision, and there is nothing wrong with that — but the costs that follow the purchase are consistently higher than what buyers budget for going in.
If you are in Mumbai or Delhi and can set aside Rs. 8–10 lakh a year purely for running costs, it becomes liveable. Not cheap, not smart on paper, but liveable. Outside those two cities, the service access problem alone makes ownership significantly more complicated than it needs to be.
